Ganiga Thanksgiving 2022
We're Back!
After a 2+ year COVID hiatus, we are thrilled to continue our Ganiga Thanksgiving tradition in Puerto Rico at one of its top rated resorts, the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar! This year there will be no bulk grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, or crazy Excel documents splitting up expenses (as much as Venu uncle loved doing that)- instead, we all just get to relax on a beach (or pool, or spa, or golf course, or casino) and enjoy each other's company :).
While the approximate dates are Wed 11/23 to Sun 11/27, people are arriving as early as Mon 11/21 and staying as late as Wed 11/30, so feel free to book whatever dates work best for you and your family.
Thanks to the hard work of Ramya, we have heavily discounted (~35% off) rooms, but limited availability, so we highly encourage using the link below to book your rooms ASAP: it is fully refundable until 3 days prior, so even if your plans change last minute, there is no penalty!
Hotel Information
The Wyndham Grand Rio Mar Puerto Rico Golf & Beach Resort is one of the top rated resorts in Puerto Rico (4.5* on Google, 4.6* on Trip Advisor). It is nestled between El Yunque Rainforest and a mile stretch of secluded beach, and features 10 restaurants & bars, three tranquil resort pools, two championship golf courses, two nature reserves, a tennis center, spa, fitness center, and lively casino! There will be no shortage of things to do :)

The rates quoted above are EP (Rooms Only), per room, per night based on single and double occupancy. There is a maximum occupancy of 4 people per room, per territory law. Rollaway beds are available upon request and availability at a rate of $25.00 each per day. Complimentary WIFI is provided in guestrooms and lobby area.

Junior Suite at $319.00 plus taxes per night, consist of one bathroom, one king bed and does not connect with another bedroom.
One Bedroom Family at $439.00 plus taxes per night consist of one bathroom, one king bed, one bunk bed and pool up sofa bed.
Two Bedroom Family at $639.00 plus taxes per night consist of one bathroom, one king bed, one bunk bed and pool up sofa bed. Connected to another bedroom with one king and one bathroom.
Three Bedroom Family at $839.00 plus taxes per night consist of one bathroom, one king bed, one bunk bed and pool up sofa bed. Connected to another two bedrooms (one king and two queen bedroom).

Welcome Dinner @ Roots Coastal Kitchen
Wed, 11/23- Evening
No better way to kick of #GanigaTG2022 than a delicious meal! This creative haven of Caribbean comfort food was opened by Executive Chef Ramón Carrillo in collaboration with Top Chef finalists Jeff McInnis and Janine Booth. Farm-to-table goodness is given an inspired flair with plates like grilled swordfish with coconut curry rice and chili mango hot wings.

Drinks @ Caicu Bar & Tapas
Wed, 11/23- Night
Some will go to bed, but the rest will continue going strong with drinks at this indoor cocktail lounge overlooking a beautiful beach bordering vibrant reefs. Choose a handcrafted cocktail or sample a rum flight of local spirits from the rum capital of the world.
Tennis & Pool Day, Family Photo
Thurs, 11/24- Daytime
Ganiga Tennis Tournament for those who are so inclined, and lounging at the pool for the rest! We also will be gathering for the big family group photo- wear your Ganiga TG 2022 T-shirts (coming soon)!
Thanksgiving Dinner @ Paleo
Thurs, 11/24- Early Evening
Paleo features premium steaks alongside Italian cuisine and seafood with a Caribbean twist, as well as an expertly curated wine list. While we will all miss the usual delicious home cooked Indian/Western fusion meal and Anu aunty's yams, it will be nice to not have to do dishes right after.
Dress: Classy, Western or Indian
Skits/Games on the Beach
Thurs, 11/24- Night
Following dinner, we will head to the beach to relax and continue a Ganiga Thanksgiving tradition of having special skits/performances by the young-ins and playing games like charades!
Golf & Spa Day
Fri, 11/25- Daytime
Your choice between competing in the Ganiga Golf Tournament or relaxing with massages/facials at the spa.
Dinner @ Iguanas Cocinca Puertorriquna
Fri, 11/25- Evening
Our final meal at a resort restaurant will be at Iguanas, featuring authentic Puerto Rican flavors at this scenic dinner restaurant overlooking the golf course.

Casino Night!
Fri, 11/25- Night
Ganiga Thanksgiving wouldn't be complete without visiting the on-site casino for slots, blackjack, roulette, and Texas hold'em! If this doesn't convince our 'dealer' Srikanth to make the trip, I'm not sure what will.
Excursions
Sat, 11/25- Daytime
This is the day for excursions! There are many options including kayaking, rainforest tours, snorkeling, and tours of old San Juan historical shopping districts.
Dinner in San Juan
Sat, 11/25- Evening
Since we will be out and about already, this may be the perfect evening to venture out of our resort into the town for an authentic Puerto Rican dinner!
